Instuctions-

1-Paint the back side of a paper plate yellow.

2-Trace a child's hand on yellow construction paper about 7 times.

3-Cut out the tracings.

4-Glue or staple the handprint tracings to the paper plate - the fingers are the sun's rays.

6- Optional - glitter, crepe paper or other ribbons

Instructions-

1-Cut a slit through the center of the paper plate, leaving about an inch at the edges of the plate. Cut three more slits.

2-Bend the triangles formed by the cuts upwards, forming leaf-like shapes.

3-Paint the crown light green (or use markers or crayons to color it). Let the paint dry

4-Cut out some construction paper or tissue paper flowers for your hat. Any shapes will do - let your imagination run wild and invent your own flowers.

5-Glue flowers to the crown.

5- A long piece of green or brown yarn or string

Instructions-

1-Draw a leaf on a piece of construction paper. Make sure to draw a thick stem on the top (your leaf will hang from this stem, which will be folded over.)

2-Cut out the leaf. Draw the leaf veins if you wish.

3-Fold the leaf's stem in half.

4-Attach the leaf to a long string using tape, glue, or staples. Make more leaves and attach them to the string.

5-Make flowers, butterflies, caterpillars, snakes, and other animals for the vine.

10-Sunflower seeds (a small handful)

Instructions-

1-The Stem of the Sunflower: Use glue or tape to wrap a piece of green construction paper around a paper towel tube.

2-The Petals of the Sunflower: Trace your handprint on yellow construction paper. Cut them out. You'll need about 6 handprints.

3-The Sunflower: Glue or staple the handprints around the small paper plate.

4-Put a small layer of glue in the center of the flower. Sprinkle sunflower seeds in the glue.

5-Staple the stem to the flower (you'll have to flatten the top of the paper towel tube in order to staple it). You now have a huge sunflower!

4-Good quality paper (to make the card or stationery)

Instructions-

1-Pick some delicate flowers and leaves - sturdy flowers and thick leaves do not work so well and take a lot longer to dry than the delicate ones. Some plants that work well are California poppies, buttercups, tiny daisies, clover, ferns, pansies, and thin-petaled blooms.

2-Press each bloom/leaf in a thick telephone book. Some flowers will leave a bit of color on the pages when you're done, so ask your parent's permission before using a book of theirs. You can protect the pages of the book and speed up the drying process by pressing the flowers between flattened coffee filters. The coffee filters absorb a lot of the moisture as the flowers are pressed.

**It takes at least a week or two to completely dry out and press a flower - bigger blooms take longer.**

3-When the plants are dry, carefully remove them from the book.

4-Arrange them on your paper in an artistic manner. You may have to trim some stems with a scissors.

5-Remove the plants, remembering where the plants were so you can put them back later. Brush a thin layer of glue on the paper where the dried plants were.

6-Carefully put the plants back in place. This can be difficult and using a tweezers to place them on the glue can be helpful (adult help may be needed at this stage).

7-Make sure all the plant material is touching the glue and lying flat on the paper. Let the glue dry completely.

You now have beautiful stationery or cards.

Instructions-

1-Fold two rectangular pieces of construction paper in half. One piece will be the outside of the card and one piece will be the inside.

2-On the piece that will be the inside, cut two short lines near the middle of the fold.

3-Fold the two outside flaps that you just made (but do not fold the middle flap). Unfold the flaps.

4-Open the card.

5-Push the two flaps towards the inside of the card - they will form 2 step-like protuberances.

6-Refold the card.

7-Cut two short lines through the folded flaps on the sides.

8-Fold the outside flaps that you just made. Unfold the flaps.

10-Open the card.

11-Push the two flaps towards the inside of the card - they will form 4 step-like protuberances.

12-Cut some small flowers, stems and leaves from construction paper. Decorate them with crayons or markers if you like.

13-Glue the flowers to the flaps. Make sure that the flowers do not stick out of the card when the card is closed.

14-Glue the card to the other piece of folded construction paper. To make sure that you do not glue the flaps down, apply the glue only to the inside of the card and then carefully place it on the outer card.

7-Glue the stems, leaves, and flowers to the vase. Make sure that the flowers do not stick out of the card when the card is closed.

8-Glue the card to the other piece of folded construction paper. To make sure that you do not glue the flaps down, apply the glue only to the inside of the card and then carefully place it on the outer card.

9-Write a message on your lovely flower vase pop-up card.
